Since becoming a customer of Amplify, I've had a series of bad experiences. Their online banking is NOT up to par, compared to any of the other three financial institutions with whom I do business. Their Bill Payer service is especially unreliable. I had several bills scheduled to pay, and luckily had printed the on-screen confirmations. The checks were never sent from Amplify, resulting in late fees applied by the payees. I had to spend much of my valuable time getting Amplify to rectify the situation and refund the late fees. They had published incorrect information on their web site regarding fees. Again, I had to call and speak with more than one rep to get ATM fees refunded because of this. I later noticed that they'd updated their web site with the correct information. There are not many branches in Austin, so if one lives West/South/Southwest, it is a long drive to get to any branch to do business in person. The worst aggrievance is that they put holds on funds deposited as checks (without notification to the customer, and even if under $10K). Again, I had to spend my valuable time (since I'm a consultant, my time is money) and had to fight to get access to MY own money on more than one occasion. Since credit unions are 'member owned,' let's not forget all the member money they spend holding concerts at their branch locations and advertising at (or sponsoring) many more events than seems reasonable. I would rather my CU invest that money in improving member services. The only redeeming quality of this CU is that the personnel are fairly courteous (even if not always knowledgeable). Save yourself a lot of time and frustration if looking for a financial institution in Austin, TX -- do not use Amplify FCU.

Fun Events & Home Loans

Working with Amplify for a home loan was a pleasant experience. Their department has helpful staff who make the loan process as painless as possible, and clear to understand. Plus there are several music events free to Amplify members that are "Austin at it's BEST!" . Truly fun and entertaining for the entire family. I give Amplify 5 stars, just because there is not 4 1/2 stars...... I never like to rate anything perfect, but I guess this one get's "five".

Great CU!

Free water, and candy - in addition to all the regular great services that credit unions provide
